Can I Paint the seats?
Can someone tell me if I can just paint the fabric seats a different color or do i have to get new fabric or vinyls and recover.
Also how would I go about changing the color of the interior roof, sunvisors, etc. Can I paint those too or is there a lot of different stuff i got to do? |

just get the recovered in vynal, cloth or tweed as far as the headliner you can cover it with the same fabric as the seat.. an upolstry shop will have to do it i had my whole interior done for about 500 bucks http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/.../interior1.jpg http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/.../crazyside.jpg

Re: Can I Paint the seats?
Alot of people think of "painting" when changing the color of something. I actively repair or customize seats , carpets , headliners and vinyl for resale but I always gotta get it done on a budget. I used dye bombs on these seats and this process is permanent and not that hard to do. Heres a sample of what I mean.

Re: Can I Paint the seats?
I tried some dupli color vinyl carpet spray (not paint) and it works pretty good too but for matching manufacturers carpet and vinyl colors it doesnt match very well compared to SEM products , but then again the dupli color vinyl carpet spray had a vague selection at canadian tire here so perhaps if I got a chance to play with more colors I really couldnt say how well it works. I tried using it to make a trim piece black but the texture was a lil rough and this product doesnt bond to the plastic like the sem does. As a coating spray I give it 2 thumbs up but as a bonding dye I dont think its that effective for bonding to the new vinyl. I wouldnt use it in a professional application. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Can I Paint the seats?
oh pretty grand am, dont like the light blue with red, i would recommend just buying some vinyal and taking the time and reading and recovering them your self, markgase knows alot about that i believe ask him about it. Not that difficult, just takes a while

Re: Can I Paint the seats?
Yeah SEM makes carpet/fabric dye in spraycans that work pretty good but like he said it actually bonds to the plastic rather than changing the color.

Re: Can I Paint the seats?
You know whats really tough , makin the exterior acyrlic laq stick to unsanded vinyl its tricky since I wont sand vinyl so I can keep the factory texture. I gotta clean the vinyl pretty darn good to get it to work good. Ive been known to paint with acyrlic laq to remove bonded dye out of the plastic (chems in auto paint reverse the effect of dye) its very interesting how it works and how I learned it.
