10 Second Car (fastandfurious) What does it Take..??

Sorry for the corny referance, but i always wondered how much shit you'd have to do to say an eclipse, rx7, lancer, supra etc.. Or any other tuner car. Obviously the RWD's would have an advantage on the 1/4 mile, but still it's got to take alot to make a car run a 1/4 mile in 10 seconds. A Z06 with a supercharger would MAYBE run 10.50, that would be over 350hp and 400ftlbs there. Would the trick be nitrous?? You'd be spraying the whole time.

First off Fast and furious was a bullshit movie. A "tuner" car wont reach 10s from a spray. So forget that. Secondly 10s are low as hell, most track only cars. A TT Vette reaches like 8.95. And that is Huge displacement with 2 turbos on it.

The trick is a lot more then bolt ons and spray.

Well you add horsepower with performance mods and strip down some weight (including your weight).

power= high boost >30psi, and or Nos big shot 200,head work(port, cam, gears, valves, springs)etc

Stregnth= crank, rods, pistons, headgasket, bore sleeve etc

traction= chassis, rollcage, suspension slicks

powertrain= strong tranny, cltuch, flywheel, preesure plate or auto...LSD diff, axles etc

weight= get rid of some, plexiglass, fiber glass, carbon fiber, titanuim aluminum etc

EMS= haltech, motec, hondata...etc... AND THE RIGHT TUNER.

WITH THESE PARTS IN THE RIGHT CAR WITH THE RIGHT DRIVER 10'S AND BELOW..PROVIDING THE BUDGET.

We have/had a blown Z06 making 530 at the rear wheels, on the stock block... I dont think you'd want to spray and run boost on a stock block, so you might want some internal work done. LOTS of dyno tuning to run a safe a/f ratio, headwork (or fully/pre assembled heads), cam(s), valves (and springs). If you really want a 10 second car, buy a fox body, a 331 long block, tremec tranny with 4.10+ gears on a built rear, and spray it.
