Car wont start (weird/techy)

Ok i must tell the story or this thing wont make sense.

I was in my parking lot ready to start my car when i turned the ignition on and it seemed as if the battery was dead, i took out my key and few seconds later the car wanted to start by its self.

Ok i was confused why it did that and just for the sake of it i tried jumping my car, nothing so i take it to the AutoZone and they said the battery was fine, i did not have a voltmeter on me so i had to take it there.

Well since the battery is fine, i concluded it was the starter, i heard a humming noise when i turned the ignition on and nothing. So just for the cost of things, to rule out any other possibilities i replaced the solenoid, and to no success. So i automatically assume its the starter now. My brother who is pretty much a mechanic decided to jump by bypassing the ignition going straight from the battery to the solenoid and walla it works.

I assumed it wasn’t the starter and went straight to the ignition switch to be the culprit. I took it to a shop for diagnostics and they said chevy had a recall for ignition switches and i took it to Chevy and they apparently replaced the switch and still nothing so i am getting a bit aggrevated here.

So my question is really, if you can bypass the ignition does it mean the starter still could be bad? Could my ignition switch be bad, apparently they just replaced the wires because of the recall that had to do with thermal wiring and circuits. Is it my computer chip?

If anyone had similar problems or any theories on what could be wrong please direct me into the right direction thanks.

Check your ignition switch and fusable links. My money is on the ignition switch, they see a lot of wear.

when you turn the key to start, put a test light on the "s" terminal of the solenoid. The light should be on, only when the key is in start position, and should go off when the key is released to the on posiition. IF it doesn't come on, then you either have a bad neutral safety switch or ingition switch.

I did not even think of that. Sorry, I have hurricane fever. Here in Fla it is hard to think straight.
