Damnd Add!!!!!

ok, im the ultimate dumbass, searchin ebay, i found a complete (minus the headunit) Bose stereo system for an 82-92 camaro. black, like im redoing the intereor of the camaro, the rear trim, cargo cover panel, kick panels, all four speakers and amps, and the wiring harnesses. was watching it, and watching it, and getting ready to throw 200 bucks on it at the last minute, and........

missed it by 4 seconds it sold for 152 bucks. for those of you who dont know, that system is DAMNED rare, out of 110,000 est camaros made that year, only 2000-3000est camaros got it. and my IROC was one of them. but the system was stripped out before i bought her. and i just missed the opportunity to get it. i think im gonna go beat the hell out of something.

Re: Damnd Add!!!!!

I GOT IT!!!!! i kept emailing the seller about it, and finally said i gave up, but asked that they inform the winning bidder that they cant run a new style aftermarket head unit, or theywill fry the rare system. a little bit of a white lie, as there is an adaptor that allows new style head units, but i didnt tell them that. well, upon hearing that im guessing the winning bidder wasnt interested anymore, so they emailed me back and asked how much it was worth to me, so i bought the entire system, in black, minus the headunit, for 200 bucks!!!! im friggin stoked. Forumula, thanx again for the number, ill definatly keep it in mind in case the system i just got is DOA. but i good time to call or a name would be great.

Re: Damnd Add!!!!!

Its California Auto Parts INC. and I think that should answer your time Zone question, If not I would forget about buying a bose system and spend the money on some help. Anyway good luck

Re: Damnd Add!!!!!

yeah not many people do, ive even been told that third gens didnt have bose systems. we all know the base factory setup, two 4x6in speakers in the dash, and two 6x9's in the sail panels. The bose system did away with those four speakers. and replaced them with four 4in speakers. one in each kick panel, and two on a locking cargo decklid in the rear hatchback compartment. the locking rear decklid also required a matching rear cargo area trim peice that supported it, and allowed it to lock. people might scoff at the little 4in speakers. but the system included a dedicated amp on each speaker, and specially designed speaker enclosures on each speaker to get the most out of them. thats why the bose kick panels are so special, because they are actually little speaker boxes, that fit in the kick panel trim position. I have never actually heard the system in a camaro, but i heard it in a 1988 corvette, and damn i was impressed, especially for a system that old. I mean it wont embarrace any competition subwoofer systems anytime soon, but for overall performance its quite impressive.

Oh and clarification, i thought i stole the same system i saw, instead the guy has a customer that is selling his personal Bose system, so i have to see if i can get some pics, and description, and all that song and dance on this again. If its a bogus deal, ill be giving that company a call in cali, thanks again Formula. ill probly call them anyway just to see if they have any information about the systems in general that i can find usefull or file away in my little tech section at home.

Re: Damnd Add!!!!!

I had the Bose system in 2 of my Vettes and its a great system when it works properly but they are prone to AMP and speaker failure not to mention alot of times when you turn the head unit off the speaker's do to having a seperate amp from the head unit make popping and hissing sounds but it was and still is state of art and thats why its still in use today in alot of top end cars

Re: Damnd Add!!!!!

yeah, i havent decided though, i think what ill wind up doing is taking out the bose speakers, and storing them somewhere safe. putting in aftermarket speakers, bypassing the bose amps with my wiring, use a 2ohm stable 4ch amp, and run a modern 8 speaker stereo system using both the bose speaker locations, and the base system speaker locations. store the amp under the locking decklid. methinks its very doable.

eBay sniper tool

Hey IROC, a very handy tool that i have used several times is the auctionsniper.com. Its free up to 10 auctions a month and will put your bid in within the last 10 secs. If you pay for the sniper it will put your bid in on the last 3 secs. This way you don't have to keep putting bids in at the last min. Just put your highest bid that you are willing to pay and it will do the rest.
