I bought a 1997 VR-4

I just bought a 1997 VR-4 with 65K miles on it and it is one owner car. Next week i will post my pictures.

My cousin got 1995 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo with the cat-back,chip, and Intake. He has not dyno the car it but it should have around 400Hp. Well I raced him today and my stock VR-4 beat the 300ZX. I got him first, second, third, and beginning of 4th then after 100Mph he beat me, but 0 to about 90 i beat him. I cant believe it and we raced 3 times and I still beat him. Are u guys sure that the VR-4 got 320 Stock? did anyone dyno there car stock?????????????????? Dose your car have any exhaust sound with the stock muffler?????? Because mine those and i want to see if anything is wrong with my car??????

welcome to the 3kgt family. the VR-4 was always faster than a 300ZX stock-stock. and you do have AWD vs. RWD, you will obviously kill him on the launch and win the 1/4 mile. with a cat back, intake and chip his car cannot possibly be at 400hp, more like 340 or 350, around there. and yea the VR-4 will still stomp it, also the car has a two mode exhaust from factory, one mode is quiet and restrictive ,the sport mode is louder and more free flow. enjoy your rocket man.

Re: I bought a 1997 VR-4

thats not completley accurate.

the 300zxtt with intake and exhaust should be running the same time's as the vr4
i don't know what chip he's talking about, but if he means a boost controller then the 300zxtt should be edging the vr4 out.

God how I want a VR-4. Everyone in my school is like...ya whatever dude, VR-4 whatever...get a Civic or an Eclipse....

I'm sure you will be most pleased with your VR-4. Go to 3si.org and check out the staged upgrades, 1st stages can set you up to 390+ hp, and at that point no one will take you often.

You guys are soooo lucky!!!

My 96 doesn't have active exhaust...they stopped doing it on the 94 or 95s.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Hey congrats man. I like the 97+ 3000gts the best because of the round spoiler. Anyways, that sounds about right though. You should pull on him hard off the line and he will slowly close in on you and eventually pass you because he's pushing more horsepower out on a rwd car with less drivetrain loss. However, just up your boost, get an intake and exhaust and he'll be staring at your rear all day long.
