***looking for a greddy 18r fmic***

before i get some crappy replies know this:
i don't want the 24r because i'm not quite ready to upgrade my turbo.
i don't want to cut my front bumper yet.
i have different goals than the dsm nazis of this board.

ok that said, i can not for the life of me find a damn greddy 18r. i wouldn't mind going with a spearco but i'm not quite sure where to get my pipes, etc. if i could find a dummies guide to which spearco with tanks and pipes i would love it. anyway...
i have the greddy uicp's already and just figured that the 24r is too big for my tiny little turbo.
sucks because i found a few for around $400. boo.

and yes, i've been checking the trader and dsmtuners. seems like people are only selling the 24r.

IF YOU HAVE ONE LAYING AROUND OR KNOW WHERE I CAN GO TO GET ONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

EDIT: FOR MY 2g

You imply that someday you might upgrade that turbo? If so, get the bigger one now. In theory it will add some lag, but in reality you'll be hard pressed to notive the difference between the two. I would go big to avoid having to upgrade again later. Even the big greddy isnt that big in the world of DSM FMICs, so its not overkill. Cutting the bumper of a 2g is tits, its just fiberglass not metal. Just my opinion, its certainly your choice. Good luck either way

^^^ yeah i've been thinking real hard on the 24r.
i've just heard a lot about the lag.
also, since it covers the radiator, doesn't it cause a jump in engine temp?
both are reasons why i'm a little weary of the bigger one.

Re: ***looking for a greddy 18r fmic***

Again, ist still on the "average" side, its not huge. With my 24x12x3.5, I have no trouble even in 100 degree heat using both rad fans. I think the big greddy is 23x11, but its not as thick, and that makes a huge difference in radiator flow.

I would be wary of reports of increased lag. People NEVER quantify this stuff, and some poeple think a t25 is laggy on a stock car, LMAO. Cant go by what you read unless they quantify it somehow. Example, someone has run both intercoolers and it took about 200 rpm longer to get to 20 psi, etc.

Again, its your choice, and the smaller one may make more sense for your car and goals. I wasted a TON of money (thousands apon thousands) upgrading the same part several times. If I had gone with the good stuff right from the start, I wouldnt have wasted all that money. Get whichever one you think fits best.

Re: ***looking for a greddy 18r fmic***

there was absolutley no lag when i went from the SMIC to my GReddy 24r. actually i developed misfires from too much pressure. i had to turn down the boost. another thing was that the top end suffered a bit on the t-25. adding all those lines put a bit more stress on the turbo. but no lag at all. i don't thing lag is possible on a t-25
