Angry 96 Taurus Electronic Climate Control

I've got a 96' Taurus with the all digital climate control panel (Cassette, CD Changer, Auto A/C). The entire panel shuts off occasionaly, no radio, no A/C, defrost on full blast hot. A good mechanic tells me that the unit is overheating and shuts itself off afer a while, and that I'm not the only person with this problem. A new panel costs over $700.00 from the dealer and no luck finding it in a junk yard. Does anybody have an idea what is going on here and how to fix it, or have this part for a bit less than 700$. Feel free to reply here or e-mail at [email protected] . Thanks For any help.

I also have a 96' Taurus with the digital climate control panel (Cassette, Auto A/C, Clock) my A/C was working intermittently then one day the radio wouldn't come on, the clock wouldn't come on and had no A/C, defrost on full blast. I did find a digital climate control panel at a junk yard, put it in but it still had the same problem.

Re: 96 Taurus Electronic Climate Control

there's hundreds of those units listed on www.car-part.com from as low as $150 for brand new and $50 for used but tested.
