illuminate me please

Okay I didn't say hello last time, so hi and how the heck is everyone? I read someone's message re: parking lights with the switch on the steering column, well that relates to the problem I am having, I was told that the subaru legacy has a switch for on/off lights with the ignition, true, but my question is any possibility that the steering column switch that turns the lights on/off can go bad, or the ignition automatic shut off, reason being is in the last year I have gone through 5 alternators in 1 year and I have done numerous tests while driving the car, a/c, radio and lights are the only possible drains, and I think my conclusion is it is the lights stay on after the car is shut off, which in turn drains the battery killing the alternator.....any suggestions or comments would be might helpful.... many many thanks in return....

Hi
Can you not tell if the lights are on after you turn the car off?
What year is the car?
Make sure all grounds are good and clean.
Any aftermarket parts that may cause a drain?
