You should take this to the Camry forums. Don't even know where to begin on a Camry, but at a guess, you could replace that old ass engine with a newer V6 version....other than that...g/l

i would not add power on to a car with questionable reliablity. its wiser to fix the car. just by having the car run right will make the car run faster then it is in the current state. if you'd rather put your money on mods, then expect your car to not last very long.

Re: first steps to make a fast car

...its...a camry, i say use it as ur daily driver to get to and from places and buy a fixer-upper like a 1g dsm, dodge daytona turbo(92,93 IROC R/T), 240sx, civic EX / SI 92-95 , CRX, something cheap and easy to find parts for and preferably for the longrun, already turbocharged

and keep in mind you'll want to make sure that your daily is reliable

i agree. it's alot better to at least get the car to run properly before hunting aftermarket stuff.... what's the point of putting all that on your car when it won't start or shift gears?

I/H/E plus a chip. The engine is kind of old. You should consider a swap.

Steps to making a fast car?

1. Get a fast car
2. Make it faster
3. Make it lighter

2 of those require money, 3 of those require effort.

Re: first steps to make a fast car

^^get a slow car, put some power candy under the hood. kick dent in side while trying to get it to run. no visual mods other than lowering (for handling aspects) and lighter rims. wax paint and leav in sun, bang head on hood for forgetting to remove wax before the shade shifted. apply DIY window tinting, apply adheasive wrong and create ugly bubbles. run some kid in a civic who thinks he is fast and makes fun of your car without chcking under the hood... give him 5 car lengths from the start, blow past him, play with your push happy fun button on the E-brake around corner. win cash from dumbassed civic drivers. get dent in side and hood fixed and new paint....feel good you put all your money in performance at first...
