insurance rate?

Would anyone happen to know what type of insurence rate to expect? i hear these are family cars so i assime that it would be cheap, right? i also hears that almost all two doors are considered sporty with higher rates. does that count here or is there still a chance of recieving a low rate?

Re: insurance rate?

Yes 2 door are higher in rate, for the lowest rate you need a 4 door coupe 2.2L no extras plain. Anything else has a higher rate because they can.

2 door is definitely higher. Insurance on my '03 LS Sport Cavalier coupe is actually higher than it was for my '97 Ram Sport Club Cab 4x4, for the same coverage. But my payments and gas mileage are a lot better.

Re: insurance rate?

YAYE for my basemodle when it was sold..... i pay 1600 a yr for everything possible on a car, i'm 18 and still on parents insurance...good for me... it allows me to blow it all into the car... good thing insurance companies don't ask for photo's of your car for updates on them...

Re: insurance rate?

I have a 2002 Z24, and I'm considered High Risk from my insurance company, ( yeah.. I've had a few tickets in my day), and I'm paying $180/month for my Z.. I'm 23 and live in the Youngstown, Ohio area, so it's a decent rate for my area...If that gives you any idea...But it's going to depend on your driving record, age, the area that you live in, and of course the year and model of the car...Good Luck

Re: insurance rate?

Just don't let your insurance lapse for a few momths. I had a 98 Cavalier that I bought from a small corner dealer. They never checked imsurance coverage. I let my insurance expire for 6 months and now I am paying for it on my 04 LS Sport Coupe. My monthly premium is $197. Back in 95 I had a brand new Camaro with a $0 deductible and my monthly premium was $87. I wish I would have just paid my insurance now of course. I have always had a spotless deiving record and still do.

Re: insurance rate?

mpw, wow.. That's high.. Especially for a 1996...Missouri isn't supposed to be that much for a car to get insurance on.. I have full coverage on my Z24, without any accidents, but yes a few tickets, and I have an agent with Grange Insurance, and my policy is through Trustguard...I just can't believe you're paying $200/mo...You should be able to do better then that

Really? I never heard that. I have heard that cops pull red over more often, though.

Soooo???....here is how i see it.. Yes i do not have power windows, locks,no tach, and it only came with a radio.... hehe...less wires to worry about and less things to malfunction. I'd rather have manaul windows anyways... i have no electric motor adding more weight to the car.... and my insurance is pretty darn low...besides i have alot more option for modding... and that what i thought it's all about... having fun adding performance parts to the car...I don't see why everyone that has a Z24 has to bee so harsh. Its my first car and i think i'm doing just fine...

Re: insurance rate?

sorry didn't read yer sig... u got the ecotec... but still same concept...what you are paying extra in insurance for have a "sporty" model, i can go out and buy a cd deck for 300 bucks and not have my insurance go up...then I could shaved my door handles and buy poppers and have automatic door?.. still would be paying less that you guys are and have a nice lookin mod...I'm trying to think outside the insurance companies monopolies..
