Jeep hesitation @ startup
I have a 98 Cherokee 4.0L. The first mile or two after start up it hesitates. After that it runs great. I have not found the outside temp to be a factor. If it had a carb I would say the choke was not working, but with fuel injection I'm not sure.

Re: Jeep hesitation @ startup
I think it could be fuel starvation!!
When you start up the electric choke compensates for the start and as the car warms up, the choke settles. So it could be the fuel pump of the idle may be sset too low. |

HI, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE NEEDS CLEANING OR MAYBE THE TPS SENSOR. TRY REMOVING AIR HOSE INSIDE THE THROTTLEBODY YOU WILL SEE A SLOT. THIS IS FOR THE AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE. GET A SPRAY CAN OF VALVOLINE THROTTLEBODY CLEANER. START HOLD ON HIGH IDLE, WITH SHORT BURSTS SPRAY INTO THE SLOT,CLEAN IT GOOD DON'T SPRAY ON ANY OF THE SENSORS OR THE PLASTIC BODYS OF SENSORS. ALSO SPRAY AROUND THE WALL AND ON BUTTERFLY VALVE IN THROTTLE BORE. CLEAN GOOD DALE [email protected]
