Unhappy Alarm Problems - Montero Sport

I'm wondering if anyone has encountered any problems with the alarm on their vehicles--I have a 97 Montero Sport and the alarm randomly goes off a few seconds after I have turned off the vehicle. (while I'm usually still in the vehicle and have not opened the door yet) Not every time, but probably a few times a week (and only when there are people nearby to think I'm a moron who can't operate a remote). I've tried unhooking the alarm from the battery and re-attaching it...to no avail. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Re: Alarm Problems - Montero Sport

I do have the same problem and I do not know what to do with it yet. I am not sure if some frequency from other cars trigger it. But it always happens when I park on top in twin peaks in San Francisco where there are a lot to transmitting antennas. The only way to keep it quiet is to keep the engine running.
Have you solved your problem yet?

Thumbs down No Answer Yet

I've done a little more checking on the alarm problem but as of yet do not have any more information. My alarm will randomly go off in my parking garage at work (underground), the parking lot at the supermarket, as well as my garage or anywhere else. It probably does have something to do with frequency but I'm not sure how to go about getting that adjusted, or whether or not it's cost effective.

So odds are other people are experiencing this as well. Let me know if you find out anything else--thanks for your response!

Re: Alarm Problems - Montero Sport

I have the same issues with my Montero Sport also. My alarm goes off for no reason at any time of day or night. Here is the best part, I am sitting in the vehicle listening to the radio with the keys in the ignition, the engine is off, and the alarm starts going off. I have unplugged the speaker for the alarm because it goes off all times of day and night and it is parked right outside my bedroom window. Has anyone figured out how to fix this yet?
