Angry Failed inspection!

But then I passed a few hours later (somewhere else!)...

Here is my story.

So Tuesday I went to get gas where I always go. The guys recognize me there and I asked if I could get my car inspected anytime soon. There was an opening for Wednesday morning I could come in. I came in the next morning, went for a walk to get breakfast and came back. I failed on tires, brakes and WIPERS. OK so tires I cold understand I needed some new ones in the rear. Brakes? The guy didn't even check the brakes because I know he didn't even remove the wheels (my car has a special lock nut on each wheel). My brakes are fine anyway, no problems stopping at all, maybe the pedal feel is crappy but that's about it. My wipers? Please... I could replace wipers in 10 seconds they didn't have to even say that. Besides, only the rear wiper was shitty (I replaced it with a wiper I later found in my garage). As for the brakes the guy was like "you need front and rear brakes the total comes to $510" and showed me some piece of paper with his calculations... I was like "Ummm, no." So they charged me $37 for the emissions test (passed obviously, my car is stock) but told me I failed. I'm surprised they didn't tell me I needed engine work because my idle was a little bouncy. Needless to say I was pretty mad. I figured they were right about tires so I went out and got some new ones, got a pretty good deal. I told my situation to a friend and he was like "that's rediculous, go to my mechanic." So off I went! Went to this other place and met the guy. He scanned my old inspection sticker and my info was already in the computer as a pass! He printed out the sticker and that was all I needed. He told me the other guys were just giving me a hard time trying to make some money. After that I was on my way.

So until next year...

PS
As for the gas station I initially went to, I think I will return ONCE more and let them see my new sticker.

A couple of things. Since you know you actually passed at the other station, call and complain on them. Three complaints and their license is revoked(my buddy use to work at an oil change place and he told me about that). Secondly, if you fail they're automatically suppose to give you 30 days(i believe) to return for a free re-inspection. I took my dads Tahoe to get inspected and they didn't pass it b/c of the emergency brake wasn't working completely proper. Took it to our mechanic and he said that they're not even suppose to check that. Majority of shops are just out to rip people off. What happen to the shops with honest workers and not scumbags?

Re: Failed inspection!

That's why I should have just talked to my friend first. I should have also talked to some other rotary people and asked where they get inspected. Oh well live and learn.

Re: Failed inspection!

I got my expedition failed last year cause of wipers. Ya he squirted juice and they were streaky. I told him I'd put winter blades on when I got home. Well it was now or I fail you. So $12 each blade and I passed. My kids car he failed with me cause of bad front tires. They had studs in them. They just passed 2 months earlier in NH which is a lot stricter than us. So off I went with a fail. He says you cant drive with a safty fail. Watch me!!. I came back with new tires on the front and he passed me. He tried to look for other errors but I spoke up and told him the tires were his only concern. I then told him because of his screwing me twice I would no longer purchase gas from him. I fill up every other day $30+ so he looses out on lot's of sales.

Re: Failed inspection!

So glad they stopped inspection here in Oklahoma about 4 years ago..But, you should see some of the crap boxes on the road now. Kills you driving behind them sometimes with the fumes.

Re: Failed inspection!

Mine failed of wipers too. It sucks but they have to do what they have to do. There's no other alternative.

Re: Failed inspection!

rear wipers dont need to pass afaik (at least in mass) so i KNOW that if a guy tries to fail me because my rear wiper isn't working i'm going to give him hell.
