seafoam

well i did it on my teg and it seemed not to hurt anything... i was wondering if it'd be ok to do it on the Z...

if you guys haven't heard of it before it's this stuff that supposedly cleans out the carbon deposits in your engine and intake.. seems like a whole lot of people have done it without any complaints... i'm thinking it'd be a good idea because i'm sure my engine hasn't been really well taken care of and there's probably lots of crap built up in there...

also, yesterday i decided to take a look at a couple of my plugs... i pulled a few of em out and i found what looked to be grains of sand in the threads... i'm hoping that none of it got into the combustion chamber, cause that would probably make mincemeat out of the walls of the cylinder and the rings... if it was just small grains, it most likely got melted down pretty quick but probably not until after it did a bit of damage.. probably need to get some new plugs soon, i just really don't want to because it's a huge pain in the ass to change those things.... when you guys said it was a pain to work on the vg... you weren't kidding...

Re: seafoam

Yea dude, and thats not even a NEWER VG... Wait until you get a Zed32... Shit dude.

Anyways, I would recomend changing all of that shit... Plugs, injectors, vaccum hoses, some EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) Harness connectors... Etc, etc.

Just get her running strong again before you start modding her.

Re: seafoam

Wes your alright. I was wondering after your ban on the local hookers, but my faith has been restored in you.
One more thing, blow out all the crap around the plugs before removing them and little no-no's won't be getting inside your engine

Re: seafoam

oh, and would you really think i'd need to get new injectors? they're pretty pricey aren't they?? i know i'ma need new plugs and stuff, but i'll do that after i hit up that seafoam stuff, cause i've heard it fouls em up pretty bad, also it does a number on your oil... apparently... i dunno about that bit, but better to play it safe.. as for the efi connectors and vaccum hoses, are there kits or specific pieces i can get for that or do i just need some generic hoses that would replace em. for the connectors i'm sure i'd have to get em from a specialized Z place wouldn't i? which ones are you talking about exactly anyway?

Where do you get this sea-foam stuff? and will it really foul your injectors and oil??? I just changed those! Btw, to anyone who doesent know... I just got my filter off! Thank goodness for screw drivers.

Anyway, I wanted to know about the things you were saying to replace on an engine Wes, I just got a Z31, and Im doing general maitnence, where can I source the harness connectors?

And same question repeated from D, Arnt injectors supposed to be pretty pricey? I heard there was a shop doing a special on cleaning your injectors for 40 bucks a little while ago, but that was on MR2s. Would it be best to replace, have them cleaned, or upgrade them?

And I was planning to replace my coolant hoses, but If im gonna replace my vaccum hoses as well, do I just get them from autozone or do I have to get them somewhere else?

Re: seafoam

you can usually find seafoam at places like napa/lordco or even autozone i'm sure... if they don't have seafoam brand they can probably direct you to something that's exactly like it..

Good to know buddy, haha.

As for Sea-Foam... This is the first Im ever hearing of this stuff... Im guessing its a liquid of some type that breaks up carbon or something?

What does it do exactly Delerious?

Re: seafoam

that's prettymuch it wes... you just pour it into a vaccum line and it sucks it into your intake and from there on... it just basically cleans out your engine of all the shite and grime and stuff that's built up in there over the years... probably wouldn't do much on a new engine, but one as old as mine, i'm sure it'll do wonders if something doesn't break in the process... i think you're supposed to put like 1/3 of the bottle into your engine, a third directly into the crank case, and the last third into your gas tank provided you have a full tank.. that's about all i know about it... and that it works
