B18 REX Vs. Mini-Me REX

Ok, a little follow up on the post a couple weeks ago. I went to the local street racer get together and there was this guy who I'd seen there before, anyway he had a CRX Si with a B18, header, full exaust, intake etc. He had steelies on the front and gsr rims on the back. Otherwise empty car. I wanted to see what I did against him, so we raced.

I have big chrome rims that wiegh prolly 30lbs each, and my full 2 sub/2 amp stereo system, and a crap clutch. He said his wasn't too great either but he can burn the tires in first just by steppin on the gas, I let him try my clutch and he's like "oh...yea yours is worse." This was the first time I had seen a CRX with a B series swap in person, it was very clean, car started up great and ran great. I am giving every detail just so you guys can freakin believe me. Recap on my car: CRX HF Mini-me swap, DX tranny, stage2 comp cam, adjustable gear, pg7 ecu, intake, header, full exaust etc. In the quarter he had me by 2-2 1/2 full lenth cars the people at the finish line said. He never would get to far away from me, and not that quickly. So overall I was pleased with my setup tonight. So for all you haters out there....THERE!

BTW he said he took his car to the track and ran 14.9 so....

2-2 1/2 cars? I wouldn't be proud of that.

Why not? He's got heavy ass chrome rims and a system but still kept up with a gutted b-swapped rex with a crappy clutch. I'd like to see what I could do too... and no I'm not that embarrassed when I get owned by someone with a twin cam with more displacement because things happen even though I know how to drive and when I stick it to people in cars like that it shows them they suck at driving or their cars are fucked up somehow. There are too many factors.

Anyway, quixilver, bro

Well either way if he doesn't have all that heavy stuff...he probably still lose. Now if that LS swapped rex had a good clutch then theres no chance for quixilver.

Well i sold my rex. If you really want to know here it goes...

Engine/drivetrain

B16a head
jdm dc sports header
B18c5 shortblock
CTR pistons/b16a rods
Borla cat-back
Generic Cold air intake
Action Clutch

Suspension

Neuspeed springs (1.8 front and 2.0back drop)
Tockico blues
Falken Azenas on stock rims

That set up alone got me into high 13s. You would need binoculars (spelling) to see me ahead of you!

one street race doesnt mean a thing. He had a gutted car and was ready to race. You had a car full of stereo shit and whatnot.

my advice is that next time you go to the races, gut your car and be ready to race, so as not to make excuses how you lost.

dont listen to the haters.

siz, question for you.....

an ls civic beat you too> and dont you have a b16a? i fucking went up to the races, and got beat by a stock ls integra. he took me off the line, then i pulled on him, and then the vary place i thought i'd take him(in the upper rpms) he pulled away from me, like at the very end. i was so pissed. if i'd have known that would have happened i wouldnt have ever got my b16, i would have just thrown in the ls i have sitting down here in my garage. my plans this winter are to put the ls shortblock under my b16 head. what do you think that would be pushing for hp, with all stock internals. just i/h/e? what will i have to set my shift light at? i know the ls bottom end will not stand up to the 8200 redline my b16 does.
thanks

Just do the same set up i did. Find yourself a gsr/type r shortblock and slap your b16a head on it. Its alot of work to do ls vtec since it needs to be built right! When i had a full b16a swap, i usually beat ppl that has LS motors. They'll beat me off the line but i pull on them real good on third gear.
