U bend delete

I am pretty new to this and probably have alot of dumb questions to ask. But im confused on the u bend delete mod. Is it the section of pipe that leaves the cat and has the 02 sensor mounted to it? Or is it further down the line? If it is the section right after the cat what is done with the 02 sensor? Is a piece of straight pipe just substituted in its place? Let me know anyone i would appreciate it. thanks.

This is what the part looks like before it's installed from PFYC.

The cat is on the left in the pic and you can either buy a replacement from PFYC or you can have an exhaust shop make one. They should have O2 bungs for the sensor or you can buy the bung from either summit or jegs.

Thanks big L. Does the upgrade make a noticable difference in the performance? I was looking under my car yesterday at it and it looks pretty restrictive to me.

I didnt notice any difference ,because I had the exhaust re-done at the same time ....I went with the 3 in delete from PFYC in stainless steel then to a 3in stainless steel resonator all the pipe is stainless 3in untill y-pipe then 2.5 to Dynomax Ultra Flo Mufflers to dual stainless steel tips from fasttoys. But I did notice some improvement on the top end....but im sure it has to do with the size of the exhaust. That seems to be one of the first mods most of us 97/03 owners seem to do is the U-Bend delete.

Re: U bend delete

I didn't really see any performance increase but the improved airflow is always good thing especially if you go with a smaller pulley and CAI.
