Hey everyone. I have a 97 1500. The taillights do not work, and the brakelights also do not work when the headlamp switch is on. Brakelights do work properly when in daytime running mode. Also, my rear turn signals work, but the off side lamps will dimly flash(right side flash dimly when left turn selected) as well as the selected lamps. They will flash at normal speed until I press the brakes and then will flash quickly. I have checked and replaced all the bulbs and circuit boards. I am open to suggestions. Thanks

Re: rear lights
if i had to guess, which is exactly what i am doing, i would say replace your headlight switch and the brake light switch. again, that is a GUESS.

I have the identical problem. I mean absolutely identical with my 89 K2500 4x4 350.
I was just at AutoZone and they suggested that it was probably related to the trailor lights assembly installed in the rear of the vechicle. They urged that most likely it's a ground issue mixed with the fact that the truck is older and the wires may be corroding. They've seen it several times before. I'm going to investigate it tonight, let me know if you find the solution and I'll do the same. This problem has also led to failing starters for me. Hope you had better luck on your side. |
