Need Help:clicking Sound With Rpm!

i had ticking lifters for a while and changed the oil yesterday and it went away at idle.about a few days ago i heard a clicking with engine rpm,the more rpm the louder the clicking noise.its nots a knock like a bearing or wrist pin.does anyone have any ideas?

where is it coming from? like can you hear it inside the engine bay?

Make sure it is not coming from under the car, that happen to me and it was the cat hittin the heat sheild

while driving the car with the window down and then you step on it,it comes from the drivers side uder the hood.as the rpm rises it clicks faster and louder.

does it make any noise at idle? or when you brake? try speeding up, then down shifting and see if it still makes that noise.

and your positive its not your lifters?

idle:no lifter tick
letting off the gas:no clicking
it kinda sounds like a collasped lifter,it has to be in the valve train.
any ideas???????????????

I have the same problem. you cant hear a noise untill it hits about 2500rpms and then it makes a chattering noise. if i accelerate fast it wont make a noise untill about 3000 to 3500 rpms. and there is no lack of power at all.

it had to be a lifter problem because it dissapeared,no more clicking with rpm.

did you do any thing to it to make it quit. or did it just go away. and i heard if you change oil brnds it might help

its gone now but i had a feeling it was the lifters though and it was coming from the valvetrain.mine did through the whole rpm range but yours seems to be something else if you ask me.its hard to tell without hearing the car in person.

well mine will make the noise thruogh the whole rpm range but if i accelerate fast it wont start chattering untill about 3000 rpms instead of 2500

I've had stuck lifters as well. I can usually narrow it down to which cylinder (bank of 4 lifters) its coming from and replace those 4. I really should replace them though, if they stuck compressed at 8k rpm they can allow the rocker (cam follower) to come off, and sometimes the cam lobe will punt it through the side of the head.

I need to change those, I just got an ulcer thinking about it...

If you have really bad lifters you should change them.
