Yo, question.

I'm going to put in a new 3800 Series 2 in my camaro. Mines tiring out with 115000 on it. Where can I buy a new one at? Will the 3800 Series 3 SC from a 04 grand pre gdp fit up with my computer control i have now? Can I get some websites with the motors for sale, i've been looking around but all they have out there are those damn v8s! Thnx

go to a buick dealer, the 3800 SC is a buick engine. So if you go to a dealer, you can get a new crate engine.

Re: Yo, question.

You wouldnt just rather drop in an LT1 or LS1 for the price of a new supercharged 3.8??

Re: Yo, question.

Buying a new motor and supercharger is cheaper than grabbing a drivetrain from a z28 to swap in??

Re: Yo, question.

depending on how much the motor is and how well it fits into the car yes. i just priced out a v-8 swap into my car, going off the top of my head for what i need, came out to about 10K with all new parts. thats not counting the stuff i didnt think of or the parts that i already have on my car (ie: rear-end). putting the supercharged 3800 will be expensive, but it might not be as expensive. granted there will be some modifications to be made and he'll need to be creative, but he prolly wont have to swap everything out...

Re: Yo, question.

Re: Yo, question.

Would it be the same if the new engine is supercharged though... I would think that the computer would have to be a little different to control the SC. Otherwise it seems like it would work...
