Hey everyone. I have a car that I painted almost 8 months ago and it has been compounded and waxed 50 times over. However, I found some details that I'd like to brush a light gunmetal color over. I rinsed the body of its dust, and dried it with a soft towel. I applied the usual thin coats of paint to build up a smooth life-like dry gunmetal surface. Upon inspection this morning, I found that there are places where it looks like someone drug a thick piece of wire through my gun metal paint. So I figured it had to be because of the compound and wax that were still on the body.
Today I gave the entire body one hell of a scrub with mild hand soap and a new soft bristle toothbrush. It removed some of the gun metal paint and may have cleaned the surface well. I would just like to know, what would be the best soap to use so I don't damage the already painted body? Thanks for your help.

Re: Cleaning Off Compound/Waxed Surfaces...
You should be able to safely use rubbing alcohol to remove any wax you're put on the body then.

Dish soap will strip wax, that's why you shouldn't wash your car with it

Re: Cleaning Off Compound/Waxed Surfaces...
The problem with dish soap is they contain smalll amounts of silicone which can also prevent paint from adhering.

Re: Cleaning Off Compound/Waxed Surfaces...
So use 70%.
I didn't say to soak the body in it, just lightly rub to remove the wax, I've done it and it works, have you?
