Post 84 Caprice Hearing Something about Cam issues?

I heard a few people saying that the earlier 305 engines had issues with the cam. Is this true, and is it something I have to worry about? The engine's only got 58k on it. I dont drive it that hard either, except for once in a great while I get in the mood ta spin the tires. Oh yeah, the car is an 84 sedan if that helps any.

Re: 84 Caprice Hearing Something about Cam issues?

True. Some had a cam problem. I think it had something to do w/incorrect heat treating of the camshaft and the lobes just wore off.

My 84 wagon was assembled in Nov 83, purchased in Feb 84, and completed 367,800 miles this year. No cam issue here.

most of the bad cam engines were 80-82, the #5 exhaust lobe, and #7 intake lobe were weak. You should have no problem with your 84, just keep the oil changed.
