Whats that Grill for??

On the center console, directly to the right of the cd/cassette player, there is an emblem that says "stereo", now right above that is what looks like a speaker grill about 1 inch in size round. Is that for a factory installed tweeter??

Re: Whats that Grill for??

There is nothing there... I've pulled everything out and stuck my hand up there. I don't have the premium stereo or anything... So I guess it could be. I just stick my glade oil fan thing there. I'm sure you could squeeze a small neon light tube back there to light it up.

Re: Whats that Grill for??

There are two things it could be, I have a 1991 SC and theres a slotted area exactly as you describe, but its to the left of the stereo, its a temperature sensor for the electronic climate control. To the right of the stereo is another hole that is similar to what you describe, but my car has the power antenna switch there

Re: Whats that Grill for??

lightin rod, those things are coin holders-which honestly i think they suck. As for the ash tray, i don't smoke, so i put all my coins in that. At the end of each week-i go to the coinstar machine at a supermarket and always get around $11-14 dollars from that, and i use that for a supreme car wash-every saturday.

Re: Whats that Grill for??

yea. The vent is, my guess, for the temperature thing. I took off the black (or what ever color interior you have) cover, and its just a little white flex hose that goes through the back of the dashboard.

Re: Whats that Grill for??

Its some kind of gauge, or checker, or measurer of some sort... if you ever unhook your a/c lines you'll hear air flowing through that hole there..I dont care what its for really, I used it to put a color changing LED in it from autozone.
