Unhappy rear door impossible to unlock

Hello,
I just bought my first 4runner. It's a 1994 3.0L TD VX. And i'm proud of it ! I am french (sorry for my bad english) and give a warm hello to the 4runner lovers all around the world
I found my car at the auction and did not check the rear door before
It is not possible to open it enven with the key or the inside handle(imagine how my wife is happy to see that !). All the others locks (front and rear doors) works. The back windows is working, from inside and outside (with the key) up and down are OK.

Originaly, how this back door can be open from the outside with the key in the same hole as the rear window ?

I try to check the mecanisms and pull directly on the 2 cables but nothing happen. The door does not open. I am looking on web sites but i found nothing.
The doors only open if i use the key in the driver side door, is it normal (from the passager side only one door opens)

Is it possible to find in the aftermarket a remote to open the doors without using the key ?

Is someone can help me, please post some suggestions. I am feeling quit alone on this side of the planet. Thanks !

The french guy !

Re: rear door impossible to unlock

Well, on my 97' you can't unlock it from the back. You have to unlock it from the driver, or passenger side locks. not sure about the 94' though. You can bring your car to an alrm shop and have a kewless entry put in. If the door, isn't opening at all, the latch is probably broken.

Impossible for me to bring mycar to an alarm shop and have a kewless because toyota's wires are not standard in France
Does anybody knows is there is a specific fuse for the lock/unlock function of the back door and where is it ?

Do you know a web site where i can find spare parts ?
Someone knows a website with some technical instruction for maintenance ?

Re: rear door impossible to unlock

Are you saying your rear door won't open or won't unlock? I see the title of the thread, but you keep saying won't open.

Re: rear door impossible to unlock

You have to roll the window all the way down to be able to unlock and open door. It has an end switch that tells the 4runner that it is all the way down. The key on the back is to roll the window up and down. When you roll up the back window it will automaticly lock the back and stay locked until you roll it down.
Hope this Helps.

Re: rear door impossible to unlock

Considering that this thread is almost 4 years old, and the OP has only two posts, I don't think it will.

Please don't resurrect old threads. They will more than likely help no one and push a current thread to the second page of the forum.
