Question Mod Suggestions for 96 Trans Am?????

anyone have any ideas where a good place to start would be for mods on a 96 trans am... almost completely stock. obviously, 5.7L, 285Hp, v8

i want to give it some kick (miles getting high - 86,900), but im also looking to start cheap, nothing crazy expensive, but can still give me bang for my buck.

any help?

thanks~

I have a 94 Formula so I'm not sure if the 96 T\A came with a ram air setup. If it did not I'd start with a cai system, and if it does have a RA setup maybe a K&N filter upgrade. The throttle body bypass mod is also a good idea, and just about free. After that I would suggest a catback exhaust as your next mod to kick things off.

Re: Mod Suggestions for 96 Trans Am?????

actually once you have more air comming in you should get an electric cutout, then you will have way more air going out.
then buy drag radials so you can put this new found power to the ground

Re: Mod Suggestions for 96 Trans Am?????

if u jus put on a cut out you will not need drag radials cuz ur gonna loose low end power while gaining highend power... cheap power are your simple bolt on exhaust headers, and possibly even switchin your intae manifold...

Re: Mod Suggestions for 96 Trans Am?????

these cars spin too much tire in stock form and they are all low end power to begin with so drag radials wont hurt anything

they only make one intake manifold for our cars and its for extremem high rpm high hp cars you would never see an inporovment over the stock one unless you are spinning over 7500 rpms on a regulr basis

Best bang for the buck will be either headers or Gears depending on what gears you already have but a CAI won't hurt is good for around 15 flywheel horsepower
