Unhappy Help my door wont shut

I have a1991 Chevy S-10 Blazer and my passenger door won't close. The door latch seems to be stuck so it will not allow my door to close. Does anyone know how I go about fixing or replacing this. I tried prying at it with a screwdriver with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Help my door wont shut

I had a car once that the latch would get stuck in the shut position, i think if you open the door from the inside it might shut then!

Re: Help my door wont shut

As Trail Blazin suggests, the latch is probably stuck in the shut position - I've seen this on a suburban before. For some reason when the door was opened, the latch didn't set to the open position. Look at the latch on the side of the door. Put your finger in the slot and push the latch to the open position - you may also need to hold the door handle up as you do this so that it releases. WD-40 and some white lithium grease might help the situation if it's rusty. Good luck.
