Brake light is coming ON on Accord2000
Brake light is coming ON on Accord2000
I just purchased a used 00 Accord LX, every morning when I start the car the brake light is on and stays on for about 5 to 10 minutes. It then goes off and stays off the rest of the day. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, or has heard of similar instances. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Brake light is coming ON on Accord2000
You checked the obvious - fluid level(s)? (I think there are two reservoirs if you have ABS.)

Thanx for replying..Yes I check the fluid level and somebody checked the brake pads also. Every thing looks fine. I took my car to Midas and they told me that brake calipers need to be replaced but one of my friend who works at Honda dearship told me today that brake light have nothing to do with Brake caliper kit and he suggested it might be the resorvoir cap, which causes this problem in most of the cases.
Thanks again..I will appreciate your comments |

Re: Brake light is coming ON on Accord2000
He may well be right. AND the Honda mechanic friend is RIGHT! Good old Midas, you can always rely on them to find SOMETHING that needs replacing.
I won't tell you what I fell for (from Midas) many years ago - I'm too embarrassed. I've learned a lot about automotive engineering since then! Check the wires from the cap of the reservoir - maybe it's something as simple as a loose connector. Next thing you could try (which involves cutting the wires) is faking out the float switch. BUT I must tell you, I don't know if you need to leave them twisted together or disconnected to see if the problem disappears. |

Hi there...Thanx for replying..We did replace the Cap yesterday No problems so far...and MIDAS were trying to rip me off with $800.00..Crazy..and we check the brake pads again and they can go 6000-7000 miles more.. and Midas guys were telling me to replace those also..In the past I have heard lots of stories(bad) abt Midas but I was thinking they all are lies...But now I believe people were not lying...
Any how take care regards, Bob |
