Question 2001 Transmission

Have had transmission flushed every recommended interval at a Ford dealership. Car now has just under 70,000 miles on it, and I noticed some small drops of fluid on the garage floor. Looking under the car, it appears that the drips are coming from the trans pan around the gasket.
The last flush was @ 2 months prior. Called the dealership, and they stated that it could not have been caused by their procedure because they do not drop the pan. They would charge 49.00 to even look at it.
Took it to Aamco, and they said no leak......but they did say that when shifting into reverse, it goes into gear a little "harder" then it should, and that this is the first sign of trans trouble for these cars. I would have never noticed this if it had not been pointed out to me....and of course he commented on the bad reputation of these transmissions.

Should I worry???

Re: 2001 Transmission

Aamco also has a bad reputation, I would never trust them with my car.

I would put a clean peice of cardboard under where you park the car and then see how much leaks. The fluid also may not be from the transmission but from the power steering system since they use the same fluid.

I have a 2001 Taurus and had a similar problem. I thought it was an engine oil leak, but in fact it came from the transmission. I later found out, the WRONG gasket had been used the last time my transmission was flushed. The dealership replaced the gasket with the correct on and it stopped the leak...
