open header exhaust
i was reading the TPR magazine issue VI(Tuner Performance Reports) and i was looking at the new products section and blacktrax is makeing an electronic cut-out system which is supposed to convert the exhaust pipes to straight headers at the push of a button. To me that sounds like it would be a great product to put on a car. Does anyone have something like this. If so how does it sound on an eclipse and how much did it cost u.

Re: open header exhaust
same thing as cutting off your muffler...it sounds like shit and you have no backpressure

Re: open header exhaust
An open exhaust is something for an F.I. engine. Naturally aspirated engines require backpressure to create exhaust velocity. That velocity actually gives power.
For a boosted engine, backpressure is the enemy. The less restriction the better and the best exhaust is none at all. The quicker the exhaust leaves the motor and exhaust system, the more potential there is for power and more boost. |
