d16a6 swap help

i had a d15b1 dual point. i just swapped a si d16a6 non v-tech, it runs but it dies while i go driving i dont know whats wrong with it.. i have high compression pistons in it and dont know whats wrong with it. i kept it dual point cuz i couldnt find the wiring harness. any help on this problem would be great. i dont know if its my timing, or the cap/rotor spark plugs/wires...i just dont know....

Re: d16a6 swap help

Hi noob, welcome.

Look into the main relay or the dizzy (maybe the igniter).
I had the same problem and a new (to me) dizzy seemed to have solved the problem. GL

are you using the a6 distributor or ecu? Bc if you are it's not ging to work. Just do the mpfi wiring yourself man its pretty easy if you have the time.

did you use the the d16a6 ecu (pm6)? did you use the d16a6 dizzy with the d15 ecu? either one of those could be the problem. it needs to be ecu, dizzy, and intake mani from the same set-up.

Re: Re: Re: d16a6 swap help

no, i'm not saying that. the engine can work DFPI or MPFI. if that were the case nobody would be able to convert their d15 to MPFI.

i'm saying you have to either use MPFI or DPFI parts....one or the other. you can't mix ecu, dizzy, and intake mani.

make sense?

hit me up on AIM (LadyNRedSi) if you are still online
