Any have info on an aftermarket receiver hitch?
Wanting to add an aftermarket receiver hitch to a 2000 Rodeo. Sure looks crowded with the spare back there. Just average duty, may pull a trailer with a motorcycle on occasion or similar load.
Was wondering if anyone had installed one. Wondering what it may cost or who a good supplier might be. Not afraid to tackle the installation myself, but wouldn't hurt to know what it might cost installed. |

Re: Any have info on an aftermarket receiver hitch?
I have the Class 3 Draw-tite hitch on my 97, 3.2L.
Can't remember what I paid for it, it's been 7yrs; think it was close to $200 or so, installed. However, it sounds like you'd be in the range for a Class 2, rather then a 3, which should be cheaper. Some recommend U-haul, however, I don't. Try Camping World, or an RV/Boat shop.

Re: Any have info on an aftermarket receiver hitch?
Forgot to add, your hitch may be a bit pricier due to your hanging tire below - special angled hitch?? My tire's on the tailgate, not sure about your set-up.

I picked mine up at JCwhitney.com for my 2000 and I also picked up a wireharness too.

I recently installed a Reese Class 3 w/under bumper spare. Bought it at Autozone, seems like it was around $150- special order. Also got the tailight adapter.

A few months ago, I installed this hitch on my inlaw's 2003 rodeo 4x4: http://www.hitchesonline.com/isuzu_cl34_rodeo_01.htm
A fairly easy install. Took me an hour or two. The hardest part was fishing the small metal plate/brace & carriage bolt through the right side frame rail. Have to line it up with a bolt hole for this model hitch. Remember your tail light connector is behind the plastic side panel near the jack compartment. I found it's easiest to pull the whole panel away from near the tailgate weather stripping. Locate the plug taped (blue tape) to a large wire harness buried in there. Route the plug thu the jack compartment, pop the panel back in place & you are done! (this applies to 1998-2004 only!) G/luck Joel

Re: Any have info on an aftermarket receiver hitch?
Thought about the JC Whitney catalog last night after I made the post. Finally found an old one around the house and took a look. Will also look online today. Also, thanks for the link to the hitch site, I'll check them out as well. I looked at Autozone, didn't think to ask about ordering something. Looks like there are a few choices out there. And thanks for the tip on finding the wiring harness in the truck Joel.

Re: Any have info on an aftermarket receiver hitch?
I got mine at here http://www.hitchfinder.com/ It was a breaze they had the wiring adapter as well and I got it all including shipping for less than $150. This is the good wiring adapter too, not the one that you have to splice in. With the instructions they sent it took me all of about 20 minutes to have it installed and ready to go. Oh, one more thing, mine is the one that has the spare underneith and the hitch is offeset around it. I have bought them as well from Hitchesonline they are also a good source. Good luck and happy towing.

Re: Any have info on an aftermarket receiver hitch?
Thanks for the responses. While calling around to see who had what in stock, one of the places mentioned U-Haul may have a larger inventory, so I called U-Haul. They only listed a class 3, which they had instock for $139 installed. They told me on the phone it was $139 and install was free (a special they had going) but later looking at the invoice, it showed it as $119 with $20 for installation. Oh well, was worth the $20 to not have to mess with it.
