BIG PROB. engine dies after accelorating
94 4cyl. I'm having problems after taking out the throttle body and cleaning it. The idle is now very low and unstable. it jumps up and down about 100-200RPMs. The main problem is that it dies at about 2000+ RPMs Sometimes the engine dies completely or it will almost stall and then come back on. Everything i believe is connected back the right way. I washed the entire thing. I'm worried i somehow messed up the Intake air control(IAR) bolted to the bottom of the throttle body. I took it off and let water get in there. The haynes manual says this is activated at 2900 RPMs and that could be the point where the engine is dying. The manual says the IAR provides air and quietes the charge, if the IAR isn't working can this kill the engine? could the throttle position sensor be out after getting wet. The throttle linkages being out or locked up at somepoint wouldn't cause this would it? what could this be? It idles ruff, and then dies after accellorating.

Re: BIG PROB. engine dies after accelorating
are you getting any codes out of the comp? Is the tps connected and good? When letting off the throttle and the engine dies or almost dies.. it does sound as though the IAR isnt responding, but check it out.
