3.8 headbolt torque

headbolt torque step 4, do they mean the last two steps 5- 6 or do step 5 to each bolt and then go around again and turn them another half turn?

Re: 3.8 headbolt torque

What are you getting you torque sequence from? My Ford manual tells me tighten in three stages then an additional sequence.

Re: 3.8 headbolt torque

sorry about the delay, the haynes manual says:
step 1 15 lbs,2-29,3-37,4-loosen each bolt sepperately and tighten to final torque specs then step 5 long bolts
30 to 36 short 15 to22, step 6 tighten an additional half turn now do i do steps 5-6 together or go around again for step 6

I personally would contact your local Ford dealer for the most up to date torque specs.
