Another Fuel gauge question

Hello again,

Does anyone know if it is possible to test the fuel gauge or the sending unit individually to see which is the bad one? I am just wondering because I dont want to have to drop my tank to get to the sending unit and find out that it not the sending unit that is causing the fuel gauge to read incorrectly.
