93 Escort Fuse Panel Cover

#1 Problem

I have a 93 ford escort wagon, 1.9. I had an electrical fire awhile back and got it all running back to normal. I was parking the car for the winter and I started it up and turned lights and wipers on (don't know which one I did first) and the car died. I tried To restart and the key wouldn't turn at all .... I had no ambition to do anything then, so i parked it.
Next summer I took it out eagerly and started to work to find that that key still would not budge so I took the ignition switch out to get the key assembly out and broke the switch.. While I had it out I switched a blown fuse that must have blown the winter prior which was this one

and started the car manually using the now dissassembled (LOL) switch and it fired up right away.... I took it for a ride around the block thinking OK Good !! I got back in the driveway and tried out the lights I turned them on, and the car died it blew the same above fuse. So that's my first delima... don't know where to start on that one.

#2 Problem

I was going to troubleshoot by removing the fuses for the lights and wipers to see if I can direct the whole problem to either of those two areas... but !!! I lost my fuse panel cover for the under the dash so I was wondering is someone can look at this picture and give me the right fuse amps and what each are for ... would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 93 Escort Fuse Panel Cover

well ok, I have a 93 escort gt. so this might vary a little bit but im not sure. but reading it from top to bottom left to right, like a book. (stop 20A) (tail 15A) (sunroof 15A) (nothing) (defog 20A) (door lock 30A) (belt 30A) (power wind 30A) (meter 15A) (wiper 20A) (rear wiper 10A) (hazard 15A) (room 10A) (engine 15A) (radio 15A) now some things had () arond them on the cover too which means tere optinoal.....sunroof,defog, doorlock, powerwindows, rear wiper. then the big black fuses right above the fuse box, its for (heater 30A) so the 2nd and 3rd in the top row should be 15A and the last in the secord row should be 20A and the third row is just fine. hope this helps.

Re: 93 Escort Fuse Panel Cover

Well I changed the the fuses to what you mentioned bigrod (thx again by the way) and decided to manually start the car again without the key, and it blew the 30A Fuel Injection under the hood my big mistake It was this one the whole time I apologize about that.

It's the fuse above the one I'm pointing at in the pictures

Re: 93 Escort Fuse Panel Cover

FIRE FIRE FIRE !!!!!!!!!!

I Changed the main Fuel inj 30a fuse again and started it seemed to run fine again but I smelt something I shut it off immediately and looked for any wire damage... I finally found where the smell was coming from ... under the driver door under the carpet ...there were wires stuck together and melted... I went all the way and seperated them and taped them for now but I think I'm getting deeper....

Need Help or a maybe even a fireblanket

I ordered a whole new ignition assembly plus a new motor for wipers

open your gallery in a new window, then select the picture you wish to post. In the box below the picture, it will show "" copy the WHOLE thing and simply past it into your reply.
