Recently I have been noticing that if the car heats to where the guage is between the last white temperature marker and the red temp. marker and the car is sitting idle, I will get a low oil pressure warning. A quick tap on the gas and the light goes out.... This only happens as the car begins to run hot. It has never over heated but man my car does seem to run hotter than normal...
I have searched the threads on this but no the only thing that I can find is a possible oil pressure sesor... What worries me is that this is only happening when the car starts to run hot... |

I would first check the oil pressure sensor, on my 95 it is mounted to the oil filter flange. It is a round (3/4") black plastic tube about 2 inches long with a two wire connector on it. Pull the electrical connector if there is oil on the inside of the connector the sending unit is leaking, get a new one. Make sure you have plenty of coolant in, if it still gets hot replace the thermostat.

Re: Low Oil Light W/Very Warm Engine...
Appreciate the answer. I was considering the sensor based on other threads that I researched. Having it only happen when it get's warm really concerns me the most.

From what I understand they are designed to have only 5 psi at idle when hot. I know when I got mine it idled with 45 psi and when cold at 100+ psi. I didn't think much of it until the low oil pressure light started to come on a year later. It dawned on me then that the sending unit was not working. I have since gone to Mobile 1 20w-50, but am going to go back to Mobile 1 10w-30 and see if the oil pressure will remain the same. I also change the pcv valve, its on the back valve cover, I read somewhere if this is leaking it will cause oil pressure to be low. Make sure the little elbow is not broken if it is change, also check the rubber grommet in the valve cover.
