Re: trans prob
vehicle speed sensor.
Fix is to replace it. I can't say for sure that's the problem. It just sounds like it might be to me. Do you have a SES light and if so what are the codes?

Re: trans prob
You can read your codes quite easily if it is an OBD 1 car. It should be if it is a '93.
Look under your dashboard on the driver's side (more toward the middle) and you should see a 12 pin data link (plug-in for a scan tool). If it is indeed a 12 pin connection, you have an OBD 1 system. (which is good) Take a paper clip or small length of wire, and insert one end in the top right pin (ground). Insert the other end of the wire into the pin immediately to the left of the ground (diagnostic test terminal). In other words, the block has six pins in the top row, six pins in the bottom row. You should have the wire sticking into and out of the two last pins of the top row. Turn the key to the on position (DO NOT START THE ENGINE!!!) and watch the ses light. You should see a code 12 right away (one flash followed by a short pause, then two more flashes in quick succession, making... well, 12). The code will repeat itself two more times. This means that the system is working. If you have trouble codes that have been stored, they will flash after the code 12. Each code that has been stored will repeat itself three times. After all of the codes have been revealed, the code 12 will flash again, and the system will repeat itself until you turn the key off. Pull these codes from your car, and post them here. I will tell you what they mean. If you're not clear about any of this, I'll try to clear it up for you later.... Good luck!
