Alarm light in 2000 jetta
When i turn my alarm on in my Jetta, the red light beside the door lock on the drivers side, doesnt blink? I never noticed if it did before i put a aftermarket cd player in it, but i thought maybe thats why it dont blink anymore. Could the bulb be dead or maybe a bad fuse? ( i think i checked all of the fuses though) can anyone help? I want that light to blink lol

Re: Alarm light in 2000 jetta
Is the system operating correctly? Try locking the car with the remote w/the windows down then reach in & open it up. The LED could be dead, but usually thay last a long time.

Re: Alarm light in 2000 jetta
The alarm it'self is working fine, cause i have set it off a few times. Is there a way i can change the led or check to see if there is power going to it? Thanks

Re: Alarm light in 2000 jetta
Basically there are two wires going to it, one is brown/blue & is ground all the time, the oher is green/violet & flashes 12V+ when the system is engaged. Use a LED test light when checking.

did the stereo come with speakers? maybe when they hooked up the front speakers the led wasn't pluged back, I know it sounds obvious but that's where you have to start.

hmmmm, now that you say that. I did unhook the drivers side front speaker (well, unplugged it from the new head unit) cause it was blown. Maybe thats why it's not getting any power.. I'll have to check that

The system is working right. The light doesnt blink because the system is not fully set. There is an alarm sensor on the radio itsself, and , since you put in an aftermarket stereo- the alarm system doesnt reconize the aftermarket radio and therefor doesnt set the alarm fully. Easy way to check this is plug the stock radio in and see if the alarm sets.
