if you could only listen to ONE song for the rest of your life...

My vote is "A Change Of Seasons" by Dream Theater (1995, 23 minutes long)

It's long, perfectly writen, and has enough key changes, melodic changes and mood changes of the entire "black" album (metallica).

So, if you were forced to give up every single musical related thing in your life, and could only listen to one song, what would it be?

I'd probably end up killing myself ... but metallica is really talented. I hope to someday know half that much about music theory.

....you mean they "are really talented"?
Jame's is just a good riffer. He doesn't know any theory, he said so him self. Kirk does, he was taught by Satriani.

Mmmmhhh...damn this is hard.

either "Rebel without a Pause" (Public Enemy)
or
Echoes (Pink Floyd)
or
The live version of "Whole Lotta Love" (Led Zeppelin) - it's the 25 minute track.

Yeah, but had I said "metallica are really talented" I would've just sounded like a retard now wouldn't I. So quit your nitpicking already. anyways... I'm that exact same way when it comes to theory... I can put together a good riff in a matter of seconds but when it comes to inverted 7th's and substituted 5th's I am about 98% lost.

Re: if you could only listen to ONE song for the rest of your life...

Hmm this one is hard. But to make me always happy it would be:

Erasure- Chains of Love

or

JET- Cold Hard Bitch

or

Sting and the Police- Every Breathe You Take
