88 Silverado smoking at start up
I have a 88 Chevy Silverado 350 and it smokes a little at start up. It is a bit slow at starting also and when it does start it smokes(white) but not going down the road.
Thanks any help please email also rsilver @ intergate.com |

Re: 88 Silverado smoking at start up
Next oil change try a slightly thicker oil. My old 90 Blazer with a 4.3 in it use to do the same thing; I switched to a 20w50 oil and it stopped doing it.
Also, is you car on a slant or hill, when you try and start it? I suppose it would be possible that if it's not fuel injected that your carburetor could be dirty or the float sticking maybe????? Just thoughts and suggestions but, the oil recommendation did work for me. Cheers

valve guides and seals. i would gaurantee it. older sbc's and 4.3's are bad about this. mine iis doing it too.
