problem with iac valve

well i dont know if im in the right forum or not but i would appreciate any hep anyone can give... heres my problem .. my engine was idleing erratically so someone old me to clean my iac valve .. so i cleaned it and put it back in .. i started up the engine and it sounded perfect.. later on i realized i forgot to plug in the electrical connector back into the iac
so i connected it and start the engine and now its idleing erratically again .. so my question is does anyone know what the problem is... or is it ok to not plug the connector back into the iac??? will that cause any problems ?? thanks

Re: problem with iac valve

my old engine always idled a little better when the rpm was just a bit higher... like right around the 1,000 rpm mark. maybe with the connector unplugged it is revving a little bit more and you just didn't notice

Re: problem with iac valve

correct me if im wrong, but its running open loop with it disconnected which is probly keeping your idle at a nice and smooth(but high) 1500 or so

you are ruight bc ur ecu cant find the sencor. might wana try to adjust the idle screw on the side. it might just be idling too low.

I have had a little more trouble than I think you are having. I have an oversized obx intake mani and i got the iac sealed and the mani sealed and i still have a car that revs from 700rpms to 1200rpms. I haven't been able to solve this at all...I have raised and lowered the idle, I am about to put in a new map sensor, if that doesn't work i'm probably gonna get rid of the manifold so if anyone is looking for one lemme know, i'll get rid of it at a decent price...

Yes it would. Put the plug back in and then disconnect your battery for 10 seconds. Then go start the engine again.

m.a.p. sensor check

tomorrow i'm going to hook up a multimeter to the m.a.p. sensor to see if maybe it is failing. this maybe my problem to my iac question since i'm not getting a reading on airflow through my afc.
