Question Battery keeps dying

Hey i know this is a stupid and probly situational type post but maybe i thought id give it a shot here. for some reason just in the past 2 days my car battery died....i hooked it up to a charger and it wouldnt start the nbext day, so i figured fine time for a new battery, went out and bought a nice yellow top optima. car starts fine runs ok, park it goto sleep and the damn thing is dead the next day. i know its not the altenator cause i removed the battery cables while it was running and it kept running..but the odd thing is everytime i took the cables off the engine seemed to run alot better? like it was louder. hard to explain. when i attached the battery it sounds like its boggin down. i cant figure out where it might be shorted theres no melted plastic smell or any blown fuses. i dunno what else to do. i hate this car.

my car was doing the same thing. the problem was a loose bracket had worn its way through a wire somewhere in the electrical system and was draining the battery. this problem could be difficult to fix.

Re: Battery keeps dying

That must be a big drain, even if I leave my lights on overnight my battery is not totally drained, my batt is about 1 month old.

Re: Battery keeps dying

yeah its a brand new optima...the teminals are nice. and as for the system it uses a remote wire to turn the amp on and off. so the car has to be on...and yeah thats what i was thinkinh a brand new battery drained in one night....i have no idea the weird thing was....my broken spedometer...started moving again when the charger was hookedup to the battery. weird since it hasnt budged since it stopped working. lol

Re: Battery keeps dying

yes but just try un hookin the power wire to ur system the remote wire doesnt always keep it from takin the power from the battery belive me i have a system in mine and thats what happened to me! so i put a cut off switch in the power wire my battery hasnt went dead since. just a suggestion.
