1991 Lumina Project
I plan on taking my 1991 lumina, and making the hood open the other way, similar to the corvette, I marked all the measurments on the hood, and its a matter of buying a second latch, and moving the hinges. You think its worth it? It would take maybe a weekend, but I think it would be fun

Re: 1991 Lumina Project
It would make your car unique, but it may be more work than you think, like getting the hood to open far enough (think almost vertical) to access the engine. The hinges on forward opening hoods slide the hood forward then up, to give you said clearance. If you can work that out, why not do it, everyone likes unique ride.

Re: 1991 Lumina Project
I had a friend that was a good engineer, and a master machinist, he had a '71 Impala that he welded all the front end into one piece, filled the gaps, and hinged it with hydraulic dampers to flip the whole front end forward. On top of the 400ci was a custom made criss-cross manifold, with a Mikuni one barrel on each runner (8) Looked awesome! Spent a lot of our time trying to keep it synched. Make sure there is room for the front point of the hood to go somewhere, like the 80's Buick Park Avenues, the hinge rolled the front of the hood up and foreward before tilting, to clear the bumper.

Re: 1991 Lumina Project
Just think about all the threads and posts you see in here for early model Luminas, there is going to be a time when you will wish you had easier access to the engine...lol Damn, I wish I had easier access and my hood is on the normal way..lol just a thought...but for some reason, Luminas do look really good dressed up, so good luck!
