adding 20" rims????

I wanted to add some 20's to a 2000 monte carlo ss, however I heard that the ride is extremely rough on the mc's. Can anyone verifiy this for me. Also, would I ge the same ride with some bigger tires with some 18's or 19's. Let me know.

tires are considered part of your cars suspension, they help cusion he car from imperfections in the road. when you move up tp 20 inch rims you cut down that cusion dramaticaly. thats why the ride becomes rough. any size wheel you buy that lessens the hight of the side wall will give rougher ride, it depends on how big you go.

if you are interested in the performance of your mc, do not put 20 inch wheels on in it. they will suck the speed and turning ability right out of the car. my advice would be to get 18 or 19 inch wheels like you mentioned above and get tires that keep the same overall diameter as your stock ones.

I was thinking of putting 18x8" wheels on mine. Give it some better cornering and a little bit stiffer ride. Plus it'll look a lot better than the stock 16s.

I have 20"s on my 01 impala 3.4 same as monte. I didn't notice any discomfort in ride quality, and it handles better on turns and also in rain. it make not be as quick on take off's but it's not even noticeable. the fender wells on these cars are so big trust me the 20"s look small. and with an 18" rim w/40 series tire it'll look smaller than stock. I've seen these new body impala's and monte's with 22" rims and tires on them. soon as I find out how it's done I'm getting rid of the 20"s and putting 22"s on there. by the way does any one out there know what you have to do to put 22"s on?
