V6 Exhaust?

I have a 2001 V6 Stang auto and was wondering which type of cat-back exhaust to put on it. I want to put true duals on it. How much am I looking to spend? Note: This is my first mod. Pullies are next!!

many v6 guys just use GT take-offs, www.3.8mustang.com for some better ideas

Re: V6 Exhaust?

mars, do me a favor, DONT GO MAC. i have them on mine and it suck ass, 2.5 inch pipes, they rust, suck all around. im going to out on a cat back flowmaster dual. its cat back after the y pipe. dont go true duals. i have that kinda with a h-pipe. my friend has the flowmaster like im telling you and is sounds sweet, and you still have all your back presure, i lost all of mine. jegs has it and it pretty cheap, around 375. go cat back, its a v6, not a v8. i thought i was going to get everything and i lost everything. good luck

Re: V6 Exhaust?

Just wondering, I'm kinda new to the performance car stuff: with good headers (not sure brand), an H-pipe, and dual catbacks, can you expect any performance increase? Also, what are some good websites, besides the one listed above, that sell mods for the V6 'stangs, year 2000 in particular?

i've got MAC, they're not too bad. I definetly noticed an increase in acceleration (about a half second faster 0-60). i spent about $1400, that's for headers, catted h-pipe, and exits. all ceramic coated. it sounds pretty badass. i've heard some pretty sucky v-6 exhausts, but i don't know what they were using. flowmaster would be a good choice too. headers and h-pipe do more for sound than performance. splitting at the y is fine performance wise but won't give you as good a sound.

you have mac and you like it. i have a a off road hpipe, NO CATS. 2.5 inch pipes, and it loud as hell and i lost all my back presure. i know why b/c of not cats. your the only person that likes them. hey, if it works for you, great. oh, btw, mac exhaust rusts fast.

I'll shop around for GT take-offs. Gotta keep the cats to pass emissions. Thanks!!

Re: V6 Exhaust?

you can get anyone to pass emission, give them 20 dollars and your set. gt take off will not make your car a gt, the pipes are 2.5 and there are a bit big. you need 2.25 , if you go gt take off, you have to cut your factory Y pipe and weld it together. i heard its a bitch to line up. you should look for bolt on.
