How to change the headlights on a 93 Cierra

Hi all,

My apologies if you get this twice.

I'm new here, and I hope my question isn't too trivial.

We recently acquired a 1993 Cutlass Ciera, and for the first time we have to change the bulb in the headlights. This has been easy as pie in all the other cars we've owned, but for the Ciera it's not obvious how to gain access to the bulb. The car was originally purchased in Canada and has the older composite style of headlight (not sealed-beam). With the hood up, I can just barely reach the harness, but I don't have enough access to twist the bulb out.

We have the Haynes repair manual, but it's not very specific, since it's about so many different GM cars. All it says is something like "on some vehicles, the grill may have to be removed". I'm thinking that the front "cowl" (the thin body panel that lies above the headlights and the grill, in front of the hood) has to be removed, but it's not clear how to go about this.

I hope someone can help me out with this problem, and I appreciate your taking the time to do so.

Thanks,

Ken Cory

you have to remove the side maker i beleve its a 15 torx bit should be three screews then in fronmt of the grill you can see two bolts and on the side marker removed should be two more bolts and i belive there 10mm socket.Remove the four bolts and the whole headlight should come out with a lil wiggling..I have a 92 cutlass siera s..
