remove manual window cranks

I am trying to remove the left rear door panel on a 97 jetta gt but am unabe to remove the plastic window crank handle. I can't find any screw or clips that are holding the handle on and I would rather not destroy the handle in the process. Also the panel still seems to be attached around the area of the inside door release handle, I have removed all the small allen screws around the perimeter of the panel and the two large phillips screws in the armrest/pull handle. Any advice would be greatly apreciated before I break out the hammer and chisel.

Re: remove manual window cranks

Hey, just pinch the ring around the handle, not the handle, but around it and then pull up. It will release the handle.

There may be a clip on the inside part of the handle, between the handle and the door panel. If you take a rag and put it in the space, as if you are going to clean the shaft the handle is attached to, as you move the rag back and forth, it will catch the clip and pull it off.
