Reading Codes
OK Sentradities, I have a[don`t laugh] 1987 5speed. It wasn`t holding an idle .so I had the garage fix it.the car ran for 4days, then started to bog down . back to the garage , they said I needed a carburetor[$300.00]
I opted to rebuilt the carburetor[I`m a moldmaker],the kit was $25.00and 3hours later, it didn`t fix a damn thing. Yes cleaned and adjusted to spec. I read in my repair manual that the computer under the passengers seat can read codes by a green and a red diode. they are to flash red a number of times and green a number of times to give you a code .Well when I turn on the battery both diodes light up . Now when I start the car[aka THE RED SLED] both lights go out and 20 sec later the green light comes on and the engine starts racing. I drove it around the block to see if it will kick down but stalled out. and bogged down all the way home. Do any of you know if I need a new computer, or there a sensor that needs to be cleaned. Help anyone , help help, anyone, anyone. My wife is sick of getting up at 5:00am to drive me to work. Tom

Sorry for the non-response! If it's not too late, check your vacuum lines and timing. I've seen them suffer a lot from that. Hope that helps!!
