I've had nothing but problems with my car, so this doesn't surprise me. The problem is after having new brake pads and rotors put on I now hear a "thumping" noise when turning. I've had it checked and the mechanic hears the noise, but can't seem to find the problem. Any ideas? Also, in the past few days I've noticed a load moaning noise coming from my engine when going about 55-60mph. This noise comes and goes and is very noticable. I've got no clue! Someone please help!

Re: noises on 99 Grand Am
I would suspect a bad cv axle or hub bearing. does the noise quiet down when turning one way or the other? if it does, it's a hub bearing. if it gets quieter as you let off the gas, it's probably the axle.

Re: noises on 99 Grand Am
i had the same problem its the speed sensor on one of your wheel hubs. Looking at about 400 if you go to a dealer and get it fixed..

Re: noises on 99 Grand Am
Hey Jodi.. I had the same kind of noise as mentioned. Mine was the drivers side wheel bearing which so conviently comes with the sensor. True as Bigrando tells it.. Brother, I was out 450 by the time I was driving it again! Unreal!!!! Im thinking of holding a GrandAM bond fire sometime soon.. Good Luck!
