DRL's

I know how to get rid of those Daytime running Lights. Go under the hood to the fuse/relay box, open the lid, look under the lid there is a sticker that says the relay to remove. Remove Relay #22 and that will kill the Daytime Running lights!! But you will have a Service Vehicle Soon light on the dash. It may annoy you, it may not. It annoys me to no end. I have a thread up about the Service Vehicle lights to ask if anyone knows how to get rid of it. Apparently nobody knows. But I would rather have the light on the dash than the DRL's! I have wondered also if they could be changed to the parking lights. That would be cool. Hope this helps you out with those annoying things!!!!

Re: Daytime running lights

Why would anyone want to do that? Are the daytime running lights really that annoying?

After going to that link above, it make you realize that some people have really nothing better to do than bitch. LOL I say big fuc**ng deal. I have said this in a previous post, I think they are benficial espcially when the sun is setting, it is difficult to see. But if you don't like them doesn't mean you have to go lobbying to congess. Get a hobby besides running around with your head up your ass. '

I guess I should have left that for the people who belong to that site.

Re: Daytime running lights

I don't understand the reasoning behind disabling DRL's. They're a safety device, pure and simple. In any kind of inclement weather, it's nice to see oncoming traffic, rather than the idiots who drive in garbage weather with their lights off, 'because it's daytime'.

Re: Daytime running lights

Agreed. Even if DRL's didn't serve a purpose, what's the harm in having them on anyways? They sure don't hinder my everyday driving life in any way, so it's no big deal if they're on during the day. That site (lightsout.org) is a waste of webspace. Like gapboi said, they don't know how to do anything but bitch.

Re: Daytime running lights

i have a 1998 chevy malibu base sedan. and i want to turn off the daytime running lights on my car. Why? Because i like control of my features, sure its for safety, and i have the common sense to know when to use them. i dont need someone else making the decision for me. i like going to watch movies with my family at the drive in, but i cant because i cant turn my lights off, because of the damn sensor or whatever it is. so i plan on following these instructions i found

Locate BCM (Body Conrtol Modual) underneath passenger side dash. It should be under the black plastic cover, just beneath the the glove box. You will see a black box, with three plugs in it. Locate the center plug. There should be a dark blue wire. This wire engergizes the relay that disables the DRL's. If you cut the wire, and ground it out, you system will think the headlights are on (even though they will be off), thus disabling the DRL's.

Re: Daytime running lights

I'm sure lots of people with the common sense to use their lights get cut off in the rain because other drivers can't see them when changing lanes. Lights serve two purposes, so you can see what's in front of you and other drivers can see you. Set your parking brake at the drive in and the lights will go off.

Re: Daytime running lights

To the guy about not being able to go to the drive in. Grow up. Number one, there aren't that many drive in's left so it doesn't matter. Number two, if it is that bad, turn the car off, put the brake on, than turn the car back on and shazam!! The lights won't turn on till you let the brake off. Another option at night and this works if you have the automatic headlamps that turn everything on in the dark, turn the knob to the parking light position and once again, the head lights are off.

Instead of screaming of a problem that really isn't a problem, think of solutions to go around it. The DRL's are a safety feature for the rest of us who need to know when a poor driver is coming up fast.
