Acceleration Problem with '98 Maxima

Hey Guys!
Thanks for helping me with my remote problem.
I have a 98 maxima SE with automatic transmission. When I press on a gas above 30mph it does not respond right away and most of the time nothing happens until I press the pedal really hard. Its like there is a gap. I recently chaged air filter, oil, oil filter, spark plugs and gas filter. I have no idea what could possibly cause this. Please help
Thank you

Re: Acceleration Problem with '98 Maxima

Might want to check your ECU for ghost codes such as 0304 which is the knock sensor needing replacement.

Re: Re: Acceleration Problem with '98 Maxima

I got it, its 0304 - knock sensor. I guess I will have to change it. Should I go to nissan center to run the tests or you suggest i should just buy the sensor and install it?

Re: Acceleration Problem with '98 Maxima

Just replace it. Get the part from www.jerryromenissan.com and use the promo code "MAXIMA"; should come out to $110-$120 shipped. Then, use the following tutorials to change it:

don't replace the knock sensor its not your problem and won't be your problem it doesn't do anything you can have that code from new dealers don't even fix it you got other issues before wasting your money

I have always wanted to know what are the sensors which unless they are dead completely you will not see a code in ECu.

I mean you could have one/some sensors with out of range readings however ECu is showing normal operation code.

I know throttle position sensor is one of them.

Does anybody know more.
